All For the City 2016

ALL For the City is an annual event in which the people of Grace Community Church invade our city by engaging in dozens of serving projects.  Everything we do on Saturday, October 22nd will be open for full participation. Look through this LIST of projects to see where you and your family,or your Community Group, would most be available to participate.

Saturday, October 22

Hope Pregnancy Center interior-Hope has several interior projects needing completion; from hospital curtain installation to painting of rooms to drywall repair. 30 volunteers ages 15 and up needed from 9:30-2:30.

Hope Pregnancy Center exterior-We want to help Hope spruce up and repair their main entrance by repairing the columns, painting entryway and outside signage. 10 volunteers 15 and up needed from 9:30-12:00.

Manna Café (Franklin St. warehouse)-Manna Café’s warehouse has 6 freezer or refrigerator walk-ins that need to be deep cleaned. The parking lot can also use some cleaning and organization. 20 volunteers 13 and older needed from 9:30-12:00.

Manna Café (Crossland Ave. building)-Manna Café needs the exterior of their Crossland Ave. building to be painted. This is a cinderblock building that needs a fresh coat of paint to liven up the place. 20 volunteers ages 12 and up needed from 9:30am-2pm.

Manna Café Hygiene Drive-Be present outside designated Dollar General stores in our city to help collect hygiene items for Manna café. We need 30 volunteers ages 8 and up from 9:30-12.

Empty Bowls-Help us hand paint 300 bowls to be used at the annual Empty Bowls Fundraiser which combats hunger in our city. 50 volunteers are needed from 9:30-12 ages 5 and up.

Arts for Hearts-We’ll be at Summit Heights Learning Center doing art projects for the whole family, playing games and serving lunch. 20 volunteers ages 5 and up are needed from 9:30am-2pm.

Loaves & Fishes-Loaves and Fishes serves meals to the homeless in our community. Help us clean and organize their coolers and kitchen from noon-5pm, 20 volunteers 18 and older needed.

Fort Campbell Fisher House-Come out & join us as we love on families staying at the Fisher House while their loved one is receiving treatment at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. We will be providing a BBQ family picnic for all residents and staff. 20 volunteers ages 12 and up needed from 10-2.

Bethany House-Join us as we show the love of Christ to residents of Bethany House by constructing a compost pile and relocating their chicken coop. Bethany House is a nine-twelve month discipleship program for women with life-controlling issues. 10 volunteers ages 16 and up needed from 10-2.

Byrns Darden Elementary School Block Party-This event is one that the families of Byrns Darden look forward to all year, a time of carnival-like festivities for the whole family. We need 75 volunteers, any age, from 10-2.

Byrns Darden Elementary landscaping-Help us clean up the playground of BDES which also serves as a park for the community. We’ll do some beautification with new flowers and plantings as well. 10 volunteers ages 12 and up from 10-1.

Firehouse Day Shelter-Construction or organization skills are needed for this project. We’ll be constructing shelving to make sure the residents of the day shelter can keep their items off the floor, as well as shelving in the laundry room, kitchen, pantry, etc., as well as organizing a storage room. 15 volunteers 16 and older are needed from 9:30-2pm.

Jump for Jesus-For families with young children this is a great opportunity to love on some folks at our assisted living facilities. The children will be singing and dancing to songs they do at church on Sundays in our kids ministry environments. AM session from 10-11/PM session from 1:45-3:45. Can register for one or both. 15 children and their families are needed for each session.

First Responders baking and delivering- We’ll be gathering as families to bake cookies together for our city’s first responders. Once items are baked, we’ll package and deliver to the 15 police and fire stations. 15 families are needed from 9:30-1.

Buddy Ball pumpkin patch trip-1 Grace family will be paired with 1 Buddy Ball family to attend the pumpkin patch at Patterson Place Farm. You’ll have fun connecting with a family who has a child with special needs by going on a hayride, walking the corn trail and interacting with the small zoo. 25 Grace families are needed from 11-1.

The Food Initiative High Tunnel construction-Help TFI construct a High Tunnel to extend their growing season as they awaken teens to the issues of health responsibility, food justice and hunger relief. This project needs 15 volunteers with some basic building skills and will run from 9:30am-1pm. Please bring power tools (drills especially).

The Food Initiative camper painting and farm chores-Help us transform a donated camper into a mobile office at the farm. There will be other farm chores available to do as well. 15 volunteers ages 8 and up needed from 9:30-1pm.

Centerstone Regional Intervention Program-This program is a free program for parents of young children who are trained in parenting techniques, provided resources, and given support during difficult parenting stages. The building is older and in need of a facelift. Help paint, clean, decorate, and transform old furniture into new. 10 volunteers ages 10 and older are needed from 9:30-2:30.

Home Rehab-Help renovate a bathroom and kitchen for one of our own Grace families. This project consists of interior painting, small projects, organization and outside clean up. 20 volunteers 18 and older are needed from 9:30-2:30.

Sozo Acres Construction-Construct a lean-to and fencing at the farm of one of our Grace families. 25 volunteers ages 13 and up needed from 10-3.
